NOVEMBER ENVIRONMENTAL SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Dear Parents, Colleagues, and Students,

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the November environmental activities, summarized below. I also extend my gratitude to the colleagues who supported and collaborated on these activities, making their successful implementation possible. Selected parts of the photo documentation will also be published on the school website.

1. FIRST ECO-OLYMPIAD – November 12

A total of 19 students represented our school and presented their projects. We believe that their experiences will be valuable not only for themselves but also for the entire school community.

2. BILGYM

Lecture for I.B – November 7, 2025
Class I.B attended a lecture by Michaela Hletková Ploszeková from Volkswagen Slovakia (Environmental Department). Topics covered:

* Carbon cycle
* CO₂ emissions
* Carbon neutrality
* Biofuels
* VW's actions to reduce CO₂ while maintaining vehicle quality

Student Activities:

a) Carbon Footprint Calculator – II.A
Author: Ela Sabolová*
The activity simulated calculating personal carbon footprints. Categories: climate villain, consumer, friend, hero.

Before the quiz: 1 villain, 6 consumers, 2 friends, 0 heroes
After the quiz:** 7 villains, 2 consumers
Students learned how their daily choices increase or decrease emissions.

b) SDGs and Solution Development – I.C
Author: Adam Koubek
A short presentation on real environmental sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Task: come up with an innovation or solution supporting a chosen SDG.

c) Quiz on Everyday Habits – III.C
Authors: Milana Golubkova & Maria Provotar*
Objective: to show the impact of everyday decisions on sustainability and encourage behavior change.

d) Earth Overshoot Day – IV.A
Author: Michaela Lukáčiková
An activity focused on moving the date of Earth Overshoot Day. Students took a quiz, compared results, and reflected on ways to push the planet's overshoot date back.

3. ZŠ ČESKÁ 10

1. Workshop: Handmade Recycled Paper – November 5 (2.A)
Students made their own paper by tearing, mixing, pressing, and drying. Result: a finished sheet of paper and joy from creating it themselves.

2. Lecture on Plastic Recycling – November 10 (2.A)
An interactive talk on the transformation of plastics, organized with the help of a parent working in this field. Students learned about recycling and processing plastics in an engaging way.


4. ZŠ KREMEĽSKÁ

Book Fair – Wednesday
The event promoted:

Environmentally friendly behavior (repeated use of books)
Financial literacy
Community connection between younger and older students

Older students helped select books and calculate prices. The atmosphere was friendly and inspiring, and students left with new books and new experiences.
