The Chess Club at Česká is celebrating yet another significant achievement. After many successes at the regional levels, our students have advanced all the way to the national championships. There's no better way to convey the atmosphere than through the words of our student — and also mentor of aspiring chess players both at our school and his own club, Slovan Bratislava — Radoslav Vachálek:
“The school delegation consisted of 10 members (4+4+2). The team traveled in two groups: one by car (Iankin, Hartl, Andrašinová, Vachálek; driver: Mr. Andrašina), and one by train (Šatka, Šuttová, Sredau, Roman; chaperone: Ms. Fabisová). Huge thanks go to Peter Andrašina (father of one of the participants, Natália Andrašinová), who arranged accommodation with breakfast and dinner for all 10 participants, as well as transportation from Bratislava to Ružomberok and rides to and from the playing venue — and all of it „free of charge“. We are extremely grateful for such a noble gesture, which, unfortunately, is all too rare these days. Big thanks also go to Ms. Fabisová, who ensured a flawless train journey. The whole trip was fantastic and completely smooth — we can only hope to repeat something like this next year!”
And there you have it — an amazing experience. We firmly believe it will happen again, and even better next time. We train every Tuesday and Thursday, pushing our limits, and most importantly: WE LOVE CHESS!
